Computers have been developing so rapidly that a lot of achievements are being forgotten already. However, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts that preserve some of the knowledge in keeping up historic machines.
C-C-G, The Computer-Cabinett-Göttingen, is an initiative to collect and exhibit some of the most interesting specimen of home and business calculating machines. We are open to new members and ideas, so please visit our Web Page.
As a good introduction to historic computing see the article (PDF) by Burnet and Supnik in Digital Technical Journal vol. 8 no. 3 (1996).
I will eventually post some contributions here that are useful for maintainance, use and public display of these machines. I am also planning to offer data conversion for anybody that has old tapes, cartridges etc. and wants to know what's on them.
Software wanted. Although many people have historic computing websites, mostly all they show is pictures. We want usable software! If you know about online pools for historic software or if you have written some yourself, please make it available and tell us about it!
Data links PC to historic machine are currently available for
HP-85, Epson HX20 and Commodore C64, we are looking for your help with
everything else!
